Gear Intensive

Adventure racing is gear intensive! And that may be an understatement.

At a minimum you need a good mountain bike, paddles, life vest, climbing gear, proper clothing, rain gear, trekking poles, shoes, socks, helmets, headlamps, wet suits/neoprene, dive light, various gloves, gear box, bike box, various backpacks, sleeping bag and pad, tents, hammock, Sportslick, sunscreen, lip and skin care, first aid and foot care kit.

To train, if not required to bring to the race, it would be ideal to have a whitewater raft, kayak, stand-up paddle board (not the Stray Dogs favorite!), pack raft, horse, camel, and H
imalayan pony.

Therefore, the Stray Dogs are immensely grateful to the companies that have sponsored and supported them throughout their 25-year career as adventure racers.

Thank you!

PictureTeam Stray Dogs love KÜHL clothing, and know you will too.
Marshall Ulrich has been wearing KÜHL clothing, in particular their pants, for many years; and that’s about all he’ll wear! Stray Dogs Dr. Bob Haugh and Mark Macy have also been fans for some time. So, when the Stray Dogs reached out to KÜHL to ask if they would support the team by providing clothing for uniforms for The World's Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji, and KÜHL said yes, the Stray Dogs were thrilled! They knew that KÜHL has been focused on making “technical sportswear”—clothing that looks casual but is really high performance—which is the type of clothing the team wanted.

KÜHL was “BORN IN THE MOUNTAINS®”and remains an independent company. The relentless weather and challenging conditions in the Wasatch Mountains taught them that if you’re courageous, remain humble, stay hungry, and are kind to your community, then independent companies, and adventure racing teams, will thrive. Ideals the Stray Dogs believe in too, so it’s a good fit for everyone.

And, speaking of good fit: the Stray Dogs appreciate that KÜHL clothing incorporates articulated knees, gussets, stretch panels, reinforced pockets, and cuffs–ensuring their clothing moves and can even keep up with whatever the Stray Dogs throw at it. The team knows that you will be thrilled with the durability and long life of your KÜHL clothing.
